How to Use Apple Cider Vinegar for Sinus Infection

It seems that the list of uses for apple cider vinegar is always growing, and here’s one more use for you to consider: treatment of sinus infections. If you’ve ever had a sinus infection, you know how painful and uncomfortable it can be. You’ll be happy to know that apple cider vinegar, which many of us keep on hand already, is a successful, natural remedy for treating those painful and pesky sinus infections. When it comes to using apple cider vinegar to treat a sinus infection or sinusitis, there are a few different ways that you can do it. Read on to find out just how to use it properly.

Direct Consumption

Drink 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar three times daily to treat the infection. This will not only get rid of the problem now but will also prevent future infections of the sinuses as well.

Make Yourself a Mix Drink

Combine 2 tablespoons of organic, raw apple cider vinegar with a full 8 ounces of water; stir thoroughly and drink up. Drinking this throughout the day will help eliminate your sinus infection, but drinking one serving of this every day will also help prevent the infections in the first place.

Get Steamy

Combine ½ cup of water and ½ cup of apple cider vinegar in a saucepan; mix thoroughly. Heat the mixture over medium heat for a few minutes. Drape a towel over the back of your head and neck, and place your face over the saucepan; allow the steam to envelop your face as it is trapped inside the towel.

This will clear up your sinuses, provide immediate relief, and will help treat the infection itself. You can utilize this treatment as often as necessary throughout the day until you have eradicated all symptoms of the infection.

Sweeten Things Up With Honey

Honey and apple cider vinegar work together to deliver a one-two punch to your sinus infection. Heat or boil 8 ounces of water and pour into a mug. Add 1 tablespoon of pure, raw honey and 2 tablespoons of apple cider to your warm water and mix thoroughly. Drink up!

Use this remedy as often as needed for immediate relief. The honey will work powerfully alongside the vinegar to fight the infection and protect your immune system in the future.

Create a Decongestant

You can create your own powerful decongestant at home using ¼ cup ACV, ½ tsp. cayenne pepper, ½ tsp. powdered ginger, ¼ lemon juice, and 3 tbsp. of pure organic honey. Combine the apple cider vinegar and lemon juice together in a pan and heat over the stove.

Once the mixture simmers for a few minutes, combine the rest of the ingredients. Remove from heat and allow to cool, storing the mixture in jars.

You can apply this remedy to your chest to clear up mucus in your chest and sinuses. Store the extra mixture in a cool, dark place for use in the future.

Make a Nasal Spray

Find yourself a clean, empty nasal spray bottle and you can make a homemade, natural nasal spray in a jiffy. Simply combine 1 tbsp. of room temperature distilled water with 5-6 drops of apple cider vinegar.

Combine this mixture and pour into the nasal sprayer. You can spray this in each nostril three times per day to relieve the pressure in your sinuses and eliminate symptoms completely in just 24 hours.

As if apple cider vinegar wasn’t already good for practically everything, it is also a miracle worker when it comes to treating and preventing sinus infections. Be sure to always keep some around the house for use anytime your next sinus attack hits.
