How to Use Guava Leaves for Hair Growth

Oops, you told your hair stylist to trim it an inch and she lobbed off three inches (or four). Your hair grows at the pace of a three-toed sloth in molasses. Or, you notice that every day there’s a little bit more hair in the shower drain. Short from eating a healthy diet, there doesn’t seem to be anything you can do to make your hair grow faster. But that’s where you’re wrong. Guava leaves can help your hair grow faster, shinier, and stronger than you’ve ever seen.

Using Guava Leaves for Hair Growth

Guava leaves are rich in vitamins and minerals, but most important is the B2, which is crucial for hair growth. To utilize the benefits of these leaves, start by boiling a handful of leaves for about 20 minutes or so. Remove the pot with the water and leaves from the heat, letting them cool down to room temperature.

Once the water reaches room temperature, you’re ready to apply the solution to your hair. Strain and keep the guava leaf water; this is what you’ll actually be using for treatment. Before applying, you first want to make sure that your hair is clean and free of any product. You can apply the leaf solution to wet or dry hair; apply the leaf water from scalp to tip and massage well to promote hair growth and a healthy scalp.

Once you’ve applied the solution, you can leave it on your hair for up to two hours. Once all of your strands are soaked with the guava-leaf water, wrap it in a soft towel, and go on with your chores around the house. After you’ve given the solution time to soak in, rinse your hair with lukewarm water. You can repeat this process as often as you would like, but make sure you’re not rinsing with hot water or shampooing too often, as this will negate most of the benefits.

If this seems like too much work to do every day, you can make the guava leaf treatment last longer by boiling more leaves (and adding more water), and then adding a bit of the mixture to your shampoo and conditioner for daily use. This is a great solution for hair growth because it’s cheap and completely natural, unlike many of the store-bought hair treatments that are full of harsh chemicals. You should use this mixture of guava leaves for hair growth at least three times per week to reap the most benefits.

Convenient Combinations

For a rich hair treatment, combine guava leaves (and the water) with some coconut oil to quench thirsty hair. This is also a really good (and convenient) way to apply the mixture to your scalp if you’re concerned about balding or thinning hair. Guava leaves combined with honey is another excellent option that is easy to apply to both the scalp and the ends, and is rich in hair-health benefits. Adding the guava leaf water to a mixture of avocado, mayo, and/or egg whites will also help promote the growth of healthy, long, vibrant hair.

All in All

Guava leaves make for an excellent hair treatment because they are extremely hydrating and rich in antioxidants. These antioxidants not only promote a healthy scalp and thus healthy hair growth, but they also help protect your strands from environmental damage. Using guava leaves regularly will also help prevent a buildup of grease or hair products, thus reducing the number of times you need to shampoo, and further promoting healthy hair. Your hair will also be shinier than you ever thought possible after using this solution on a regular basis.
