Cleansing the Lymphatic System of Toxins

The lymphatic system is the network of organs and tissues that consist of lymph vessels, lymph nodes, and lymph. The tonsils, spleen, and thymus are all part of the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system carries toxins out of the body and plays a crucial part in our health. For this reason, cleansing of the lymphatic system is very important. Below are instructions on how to do a lymph cleanse.

Preparing for Your Lymph Cleanse

Stock up on lymph-cleansing teas, fruits and vegetables. PLEASE NOTE: All ingredients must be ORGANIC.

Herbs for your tea: burdock root, dandelion root, cleavers, echinacea, goldenseal, nettles, myrrh, oregon grape, red root, parsley, yellow dock. You can blend any of these to make your own tea, or purchase a pre-blended lymph-cleansing tea at the store.

Fruits: Lemons, grapefruit, oranges, grapes, and apples.

Vegetables: Kale, collard greens, chard, dandelion, radish, broccoli, carrots, avocado, green lettuce.

You will also need a juicer or blender (or similar).

About a week before your cleanse, gradually eliminate fatty and processed food. Eat more vegetables and ensure your bowels are moving properly (you can take a natural laxative if necessary).

The Lymphatic Cleanse

Morning: Drink lemon water upon waking up. Follow with a glass of fruit juice and some chlorella or spirulina tablets (for protein). You can also blend the tablets in with your fruit juice.

Mid-morning: Drink another glass of fruit juice, adding 1 tbsp. of flaxseed oil or ground flaxseed.

Lunch: Enjoy a raw vegetable salad from the options listed above.  Flavor your salad with a sprinkle of flax seeds, a quarter of an avocado, or herbs or lemon juice.

Mid-afternoon: Drink a glass of vegetable juice.

Dinner: Have another raw vegetable salad and a glass of vegetable juice. Eat no later than 6:00 p.m.

Throughout the day: Drink your tea between meals and juices as desired, up to 6 cups. Hydrate with water throughout the day.

After the cleanse

Be sure not to eat heavy-congesting food for at least four days after your cleanse. For better health, make a commitment to reducing your overall intake of these foods.

To maintain the health of your lymphatic system, repeat this cleanse 1-2 times a year. If you have a poor diet or low activity level, it is good to cleanse even more often.
